Hairspiration: Shingy of The Noisettes
I’ve been listening to The Noisettes for a minute now, turned onto the group by Oyin HoneyBee and makeup artist extraordinaire Meagan Shea, and have harbored a fond and appreciative love for the voice, energy, style, hair, and overall beauteousness of lead singer Shinghai “Shingy” Shoniwa since I first saw her. When I saw this video below on my friend Shawn Peters blog, I realized how LATE I was in mentioning Shingy here – not only is her music energetic, raw, soulful and HOT, but she’s a natural hair inspiration FOR THE AGES!
I absolutely love the way she rocks her hair in these timeless, retro, glamourous silhouettes that are also somehow raw and so so bold – perhaps because of the sheer SIZE of the beautiful hair she’s working with.
Props to Shingy and whoever is helping her put it together like this!

She is sooooo beautiful. I saw her back in ’07 at a concert, got close enough to snap some awesome pictures of her. She is quite the performer. Glad you featured her on your blog.
