oyin honeylove: alanna from north carolina

location: Currently living in Greensboro, NC

occupation: Freelance Graphic Designer and Temporary Office Assistant at Bennett College for Woman

favorite foods to nibble on: Pickles, Popcorn, or Wasabi Cashews for something salty and Chocolate, Apple Slices, or Grapes for something sweet.

favorite musical artist(s): 112, Jill Scott, Eric Benet, Floetry, Eric Roberson, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Talib Kweli, The Roots, I can keep going, I love music!

song(s) people would be surprised that you like: Swag On, people would be surprised since I usually don’t listen to mainstream music. I like Keri Hilson’s version a lot better though lol.

3 movie recommendations: Coming to America, Mo Better Blues, What Dreams May Come

one thing i would tell my teenage self: Enjoy your youth! Don’t get too hung up on what you look like or what other people think you look like. God took his time and made you in His image, that’s why your so special. You have a beautiful spirit and you’re destined for greatness!

biggest dream: To be a successful Graphic Designer. I love Design, not just the process of developing my own work, but I enjoy seeing the work of others and how unique individuality can be. I haven’t made up my mind as far as pursuing my Ph.D or just continuing to explore the industry, but whatever I decide to do, I know my Goal is to leave my mark and let everyone know Alanna was Here!

hairstyle(s) of choice: Super Chunky Twist-Out, I love to wear my hair big and curly. The twists help me in defining my curls in a uniform style since I naturally have different curl patterns.
favorite oyin products and how you use them: I like to use the Honey Hemp conditioner as my leave-in and the Shine & Define to set my twists. Sometimes I use a little of the Honey Hemp conditioner mixed with some water in my spray bottle as a refresher for my curls. This works really well as a refresher for a wash-n-go along with the Juices & Berries.

products you wish Oyin made: Oils for your hair that have the same scents of Juices & Berries, Burnt Sugar Pomade, Whipped Pudding, etc.

final thoughts: With natural hair, there’s no such thing as a carbon copy. The trick is to find what works for you and rock it knowing that it’s all yours! Flyness comes in all types, textures, shapes, sizes and colors.
