The name of this product speaks for itself. It definately defines my curlies, and again, it SMELLS wonderful! I love this stuff. My Mexican curls tend to get dry and crunchy, but Shine and Define helps keep them soft and bouncy. There's still a little frizz, but it doesn't weigh down my hair or feel gross to touch so it's a trade off I am willing to make. A little goes a long way. I smooth in a little dab right after a shower, twirl strands, and let air dry. it also makes my bangs really soft and smooth when I straighten them.

Read all the reviews from another website a 50/50 mix review, but I tried it any way. The trick I learned is you have to put the honey dew on first then the shine & define, and sit under a semi warm dryer for your desire style. The product does not leave a white residue on my hair also, make sure your is wet. This works for me it may not work for others. My texture is curly wavy.

I ordered Shine & Define as part of the sample pack and it was my least used product in the set. I usually do not pull back my hair into a bun after washing. S&D's merit, though, came when I needed to do just that. I washed my hair just before getting on a plane for Thanksgiven'. I had no time to do my usual 2-strand twists & air dry. I slathered the S&D on my wet head focusing on the edges, gave a few vigorous strokes with my boar bristle brush (produces great waves), pulled it back, added a wide headband and headed out. When I reached my destination my sisters, cousins, mom, bro'n'law wanted to know: oooo what'd you do to your hair, how'd you get it so shiny, how'd you get it so wavy, how'd you get it look like \that\"? This stuff is PERFECT for twisting locs! I use it on its own or mix it with a little Burnt Sugar Pomade and it's the perfect consistency for maintaining and moisturizing locs...with no build up! Sometimes I even rub it into my edges just to get whiffs throughout the day...it smells like HEAVEN. I won't go without this product ever again!

Purchased this item via the sample pack. At first wasn't real sure how or when to use it on my hair. This weekend, I twisted a few strands of hair with the whipped shea butter and shine and define. Needless to say my hair was very defined and soft. I am still in my transition stage, so I will have to wait on giving it five stars until I can do some more experimenting. But so far so good! I really like this product, the first time i purchased it I bought the sampler pack and after 2 uses it was gone (everyone was dipping in the pot). The texture and smell I really love, I also like that my hair is moisturized and NOT greasy or crunchy but holds its shape. I do have one gripe, it leaves flakes in my hair. I tried shine & define to retwist my locs. I used it along with the greg juice. I loved how soft my hair was, loved that it was not greasy and that it smelled light n fresh however, because I exercise a lot I ended up sweating my hair out the next day. So I like the product it smells great and its hydrating but its just not the right product for my purposes.

I ordered the sample pack and used this on my edges. While it did slick them down, I think that instead of reapplying when needed, you might just need to wet a brush to reactivate it, as I noticed that there was some product buildup after reapplying.

Amazed. I didn't think this would hold my 3c curls, but I have FULL definition, shine, and no frizz. The smell is comprable to Miss Jessie's curly meringue, light and citrus-y, but this product won't give you the protein-full crunch that Miss Jessie's products pack. Well I regret to say that I absolutely hated this product, along with all the other products that I ordered. I patiently waited three weeks for my order and was quite disappointed when I received it. As with all Oyin products this one has a great smell. However, it did not work for my purposes. I generally wear my hair in twist outs. I washed and conditioned my hair, then used the Greg Juice and shine & define to put in the double strand twists. When I took out the twists my hair was soft and healthy looking but it didn't have the normal definition that I like. It was more like a soft & curly afro. I just can't seem to get the same results as when I use Creamy Beeswax. Although, I can see how this would be great on my edges.

I am completely blown away by this product! It's amazing. I dampened my edges and added a touch of shine & define on them. The results were smooth, shiny edges. But, they were moist, not hard and dry like when I used to use alcohol based gels. I tried the shine and define with a twist out. My hair was moisturized, glistening and curly. Plus, the product smells scrumptious. I'm looking forward to trying more Oyin products.

Can we say, oyin provides what it promises. This stuff truly works, I used it yesterday and today and it along with the whipped pudding are a team. I have dry hair and normally when I apply a defining product it leaves my hair dry and dull but shine and define is different. I was skeptical because it was much thinner than other curl defining products I have used but looks are deceiving. After applying Juices and Berries, I applied Shine and define finishing with whipped pudding for extra moisture. After my hair dryed, I had smooth curls, shine and great smelling hair. ok ,so the 1st time i tried this product last year i did not use it correctly. I used too much an my hair wasnt damp enough to it left residue. After reading a review from someone on another site who made the same mistake i did but later used it the correct way and had wonderful results, i decided to try this product again,and boy am i glad. I have curly hair (type 3b/3c) and i have been looking for a natural leave in product that moisturizes me hair and give my curls definition. I'm happy to say that shine&define does just that. My hair is soft and defined without being stiff. If you have curly hair or afro curly hair,using this product is a must.

After listening to one of the podcasts, I decided copy Pierre's mom and try the Shine & Define Serum on my face as a moisturizer. WOW! I wear mineral makeup, and my old moisturizer made my face greasy. The S&D keeps my skin soft and helps set my makeup without major greasiness. I first used this last year and wasn't too keen on it as it made my hair hard. But of course, after reading all of these reviews on nappturality, I decided to try it again. I mixed a little with my whipped pudding last night to do my twists, and just a dab on my roots to do my flat twists.....WOW I'm glad I decided to try it again! Everyone gave me compliments on my hair, and my honey loved how soft my hair felt today...but amazingly my twists haven't unraveled. I can only use pure honey to make my twists stay together but they actually held up today!! Thumbs up for this stuff!

The only styling product I'll let touch my hair. My hair is so naturally dry, frizzy, and unruly that I couldn't bear to put sticky hairspray or gel in it. Besides, they smell terrible! I figured I'd give the Shine and Define a try. It couldn't keep the frizzies away when kneaded into the bulk of my hair, but as a substitute for hairspray in keeping flyaways in check when I pull it back? Heaven. another great product. i'm not a fan of hard hair and this product works with my hairs texture instead of against it. it makes my curls stand up and ads a touch of believable sheen. \

After trying the hair care sampler I just had to order more, and it couldn't get here fast enough. I use it on my hair as well as my two young princesses (ages 7 and 2). Their twists last longer and don't shrink when they dry. My style lasts longer and all of our heads smell wonderful!!I have recommended this site and several of the products to other sistas and will continue to do so.Thank you so much for being here.

I just got this in the mail this afternoon before I got showered and ready to go to work. Opened it, and the smell had me sold above all. After washing with the uber poo bar, conditioning with the Honey hemp, I used the shine and define, and let me tell you, I knew that my natural hair had a nice texture- you know, the texture that you discover when you first go natural that makes you say \I never knew my hair did that\"- but this product made it look better than anything I could ever dream!!! Oh, i love this stuff! Paired with the whipped pudding, this stuff is heaven to do twists and twist outs with! My twists have never lasted as long, and they didnt shrink up once they dried like they usually do! And must i mention the shine and softness that i had for days!! I am hooked for life! i would give this 10 stars if i could!

I absolutely LOVE this product! It truly does everything that it says. This is my number 1 product for smoothing down the sides, back, and top of my puff. It leaves a nice hold, brings out my waves and shine in no time without being greasy and heavy. Also, out of all the products I own, this has the best smell: fresh and citrusy.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!! I go through jars of it like my favorite jar of peanut butter....it's so great. I'm always depressed when I see the bottom of the jar cuz I know I'll have to go without until I get more. This product is an instant softener. It's great for my twist-outs, braid-outs, or just for moisture. It's not heavy at all, and it SMELLS SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!!

I've tried other products for my twist outs, but shine and define is now at the top of my list when I want really defined, and moisturized twist outs. I could not believe the definition I received when I did my twist out...my hair was very shiny, non-frizzy, and very moisturized for days at a time. Thank you Oyin for making such a wonderful product, it even allowed me to wear my braids a week longer, because it lays down the extra frizz when I tied my hair down with a satin scarf after using just a small amount of this wonderful product with a little Gregg juice to seal in the moisture.

I have been searching for years for a Holy Grail product that was natural and gave awesome results and this is it!I have been natural for 10 years and have spent over a thousand dollars in the last 2 years alone trying to find something like this and I and am in awe at how well this product works on my hair. My super thick curly hair craves moisture and between my two new staples, Whipped Pudding and Shine & Define, it is completely satisfies. Of all the Oyin products I've tried and love, this is perhaps the GREATEST.
